Nov 28, 2018 | Track & Field
Full Schedule
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Eric Peterson has announced the team's indoor and outdoor schedules on Wednesday, a challenging schedule that will pit the Green Wave against some of the nation's best throughout the year.
Tulane will compete in six regular-season meets during the indoor season beginning on Friday, and the team will then have the American Athletic Conference Championship and NCAA Indoor Championship in late February and early March at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
The Green Wave take on two more regular-season indoor meets at the Crossplex, so the team will be plenty prepared with the venue when postseason rolls around. Tulane also has two regular-season meets in Baton Rouge, so local fans have a chance to see the team in action.
During the outdoor schedule, Tulane will compete in four meets in Louisiana including the SELA Invitational in Hammond on March 2 to kick off the schedule. The Green Wave will also take part in the Stanford Invitational in late March, and could race in the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays or the Penn Relays as well in April.
The conference championships will be held in Wichita, Kansas, from May 10-12 before the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 23-25. After spending the better part of a decade in Eugene, Oregon, the national championship in 2019 will be hosted by Texas on June 5-8 in Austin.
The indoor season will begin Friday at the Birmingham-Southern Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex. The team will then take off for all of December, returning to action at the Crossplex once again for the Samford Invitational on January 18-19. Still in January, Tulane will travel to Lubbock, Texas, for the Texas Tech Classic on the 25th and 26th of the month.
The Green Wave are back closer to home on February 1 for the LSU Bayou Bengal meet in Baton Rouge, but the team heads back west for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico on February 8-9 after that. The following week, Tulane is right back in Baton Rouge for the LSU Twilight meet on February 15 to close the regular season.
Tulane finishes out the indoor schedule at the Crossplex on February 22-23 for The American's indoor championship and March 8-9 for the indoor national championships.
The indoor and outdoor seasons briefly overlap when the Green Wave start their outdoor schedule on March 2 at Southeastern Louisiana. The team stays in-state for its next meet on March 15-16 at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette. The Victor Lopez Invitational on Mach 22-23 is next in Houston, and the team will close out March with a trip to Stanford for the Stanford Invitational on March 29-30. The squad will split up that weekend, though, with some of the team heading to either the Texas Relays in Austin or the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.
In April, the team will compete at the Conference Challenge at Louisiana-Lafayette on April 12-13, the Mt. SAC Relays on April 19-20, the LSU Alumni Gold Meet on April 19-20 and either the Penn Relays on April 25-27 or the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Arizona, on April 27.
One final regular-season meet – the Tom Telez Invite – will take place on May 3 in Houston. The team will then face the conference championship, the NCAA East Regional and the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
