Tulane Women’s Golf Sits in 14th Place at the Clemson Invitational

SUNSET, S.C. – The Tulane University women's golf team shot 298 on Saturday and improved two strokes from its opening day round, but it was not enough to move up the leaderboard in day two of competition at the Clemson Invitational.

Heading into the final round of competiton, the Green Wave remain in 14th place with a two-round total of 598.

"We had two great rounds today from Laura (Munoz) and Jennifer (Rosenberg)," Tulane women's golf head coach Lorne Don said. "They both played really consistent. They both made a few birdies and just managed their games really well, so that was exciting to see."

Junior Laura Munoz highlighted play on Saturday for Tulane, as she carded a team-best round of one-under-par, 71, to move six spots up the leaderboard. Her second round 71 tied for her lowest round of the year.

Munoz currently leads the Green Wave with a two-round total of 144 and is tied for 28th.

The Colombian native opened play on No. 10 and shot one-over-par on her first nine holes of the day and recorded a pair of birdies on holes 13 and 15. Moving over to the front nine, Munoz registered birdies on holes 2 and 7 and finished the final two-under-par.

Through 36 holes, Munoz has tallied a team-best six birdies and is one of just five players in the field to card an eagle.

Following Munoz on the leaderboard is freshman Jennifer Rosenberg, who is tied for after 49th (148) after she posted a second round performance of even par, improving four strokes from her opening round score of 76.

Rosenberg's second round 72 is tied for her third lowest round of the year. The New York native was steady throughout the day, as she posted 16 pars to go along with one birdie (No. 14) and one bogey (No. 12).

Furman holds the team lead with a two-round total of 550. Furman's Reona Hirai leads all individuals with a two-round total of 135.

Rounding out the Green Wave lineup was junior Sofia Goicoechea (tied for 67th, 152), sophomore Haydyn Gibson (tied for 75th, 155) and sophomore Gabrielle Correia (80th, 158) as they posted second round scores of 76, 79 and 83, respectively.

"It was good to see two of them go out there and do it today and show that it's there to be had," Don said. "If we can get all five moving in that direction tomorrow and into our next event then I think we'll be in good shape."
