Tulane Women’s Golf Sits Eighth After One Round at the AAC Championship

PALM COAST, Fla. – The Tulane University women's golf team opened competition Sunday at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championship and currently sit in eighth place after one round of play.

Tulane finished the day with a score of 310, carded seven birdies and 51 pars as a team.

The three-day event is being held at the par 72, 6,276-yard Hammock Beach Resort – Conservatory Course.

Junior Laura Munoz led all Green Wave individuals after round one, as she carded an opening round score of 75 and is tied for 17th. Munoz was consistent throughout the day, tallying 16 pars.

Munoz's 16 pars are the most in the 49-player field.

Freshman Jennifer Rosenberg and junior Sofia Goicoechea were the next Green Wave finishers in the clubhouse, as both opened the tournament tied for 30th, finishing with first round scores of 78.

Sophomore Haydyn Gibson is tied for 33rd following a first round 79. Gibson led the Green Wave with three birdies on the day. The Clearwater, Fla. native carded birdies on holes No. 1, 9 and 12.

Rounding out Tulane's top five was sophomore Gabrielle Correia, who carded a day one total of 82 and is tied for 43rd.

Houston holds the overall team lead after it posted a round one score of 291. East Carolina's Kathryn Carson sits atop the leaderboard after she posted a 69.
