NEW ORLEANS - Tulane women's tennis head coach Maria Brito has signed Adelaide Lavery to a National Letter of Intent in an announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
"We're so excited to have Adelaide join our Green Wave family," Brito said. "Our current student-athletes, coaches and staff fell in love with her when she came to campus for her official visit. She always has a big smile on her face and she's very hungry and driven."
A Toronto, Ontario native, Lavery attends Heritage Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina. A left-handed player standing 5'11, she was a doubles runner-up and reached the singles quarterfinals of the Yonex Calgary U18 event on the ITF Junior circuit in June of 2017. In March 2016, Lavery won the doubles crown at the Copa Sultana Mayaguez ITF Juniors draw in Puerto Rico.
"She has a very aggressive game style and she's going to fit in well," Brito said. "Her character, work ethic and energy are going to make a huge impact on our team beginning next fall."
Lavery's father, Simon, lettered three years on Mississippi State's men's tennis team from 1981-83.
