Simpson Selected for NCAA's Career in Sports Forum
May 9, 2018 | Women's Swimming and Diving
NEW ORLEANS – Capping off her stellar career at Tulane, senior swimmer Kaitlin Simpson has been selected to participate in the NCAA's Career in Sports Forum.
Â
The NCAA welcomes just 200 student-athletes annually to participate in the forum out of its more than 460,000 total student-athletes across the country.
Â
The forum is designed to help student-athletes with their career paths after graduation.
Â
"I'm excited to spend four days at the NCAA headquarters and to meet some of the NCAA's most influential leaders," Simpson said. "It is an honor to be selected, and I am proud to represent Tulane."
Â
The four-day event, per the NCAA, is designed to "provide an opportunity to network and learn from current athletics professionals."
Â
Discussion at the forum include: how personal values intersect with career opportunities, how behavioral styles impact individual effectiveness, the key professional and career development information to assist with transition from a student-athlete to a professional, and the role of the college coach or athletics administrator. Participants will network with peers, as well as key decision-makers at the campus, conference and national level of college athletics.
Â
This year's Career in Sports Forum will be held May 31-June 3 at the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis.
Â
Not just one of the most accomplished swimmers in program history, Simpson is also the president of Tulane's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She has already earned her bachelor's degree in Public Health with a 3.5 GPA and is working toward a master's degree in Health Systems Management.
Â
Simpson has played a huge role in the community, helping to resuscitate a swimming program with local Special Olympic athletes that meets most Saturdays and changes the lives of those young athletes. She is also currently an administrative intern at Touro Infirmary.
Â
A team captain with the Tulane swimming program, Simpson will leave the Green Wave holding 8 of the top 15 overall times in the 100 fly and eight of the top 18 times in the 200 free relay. She won eight medals at The American championships over her career and holds school records in the 100 fly, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay.
