NEW ORLEANS – For the second consecutive season, Green Wave runners Jessica Duckett and Emmanuel Rotich have been named Second Team All-Americans, the USTFCCCA announced on Monday.
Duckett earned her honor by placing 11th at the NCAA Outdoor Championship on Thursday in the 400-meter hurdles, racing to a fifth-place finish in her heat with a time of 58.22 seconds.
Rotich, meanwhile, came in sixth place in his heat and 13th overall in the 3K steeplechase on Wednesday at the national championship meet, coming up one place short of a spot in the national championship race.
First-team All-American honors go to those athletes from individual events and relay teams who finished first through eighth at the national championship while those who finish ninth through 16th earned second-team status. Honorable mention is given to those who finished 17th through 24th.
Duckett and Rotich have a chance to improve on those honors next year, as both competed as juniors in 2017-18.
Last year, Tulane had four All-Americans in Rotich, Duckett, Alyssa Applebee (First Team) and Raymond Kibet (Second Team).
