Duckett, Blocker Set to Race at USATF Outdoor Championships

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane rising senior hurdler Jessica Duckett has one more chance to show her skills this season, as she will be competing at the 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
The event, hosted by Drake University, showcases some of the country's top track and field stars, and the field has 13 Olympians taking part.

Duckett, who just competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championship in the 400 hurdles, will be running a shorter distance in Iowa when she takes on the 100 hurdles.
Duckett's quarterfinal race is scheduled for Friday at 3:50 p.m. where she will run in the third heat. If she is among the top three in her heat or the next seven fastest runners, she will advance to Saturday's semifinal at 10 a.m.
If Duckett can place in the top four in her semifinal heat, she will race for a USATF championship later on Saturday at 2:20 p.m.
A two-time Second Team All-American in the 400 hurdles, Duckett is the school record holder in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.02 seconds. She won the event at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship in May and advanced to the NCAA East Regional in the 100 hurdles as well.
Former Tulane All-American Jasmine Blocker will also be competing, running the 400 starting with the quarterfinals on Thursday at 4:40 p.m. If she qualifies, she would advance to Friday's semifinals at 6:05 p.m. and then Saturday's final at 4:08 p.m.
Blocker was a First Team All-American in 2016 in the event, finishing seventh in the country. She currently runs professionally with Oiselle. She remains second all-time in the 400 in school history with a time of 52.40.
