Men’s Tennis Adds Transfer Akos Kotorman
Aug 10, 2018 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane director of tennis Mark Booras announced the addition of transfer Akos Kotorman as the fourth newcomer to the men's program ahead of the 2018-19 season.
Kotorman arrives in New Orleans with three years of eligibility remaining after competing at Baylor University in 2017-18.
"We're very excited about signing Akos," Booras said. "He's played at a very high level internationally and in college. He has an advantage because he already knows what the college experience is going to be like. He's a great athlete, and he's really excited to get started here."
As a freshman at Baylor, Kotorman compiled a 7-9 overall singles record, including a 4-1 mark in dual matches at the No. 6 spot in the lineup, helping the Bears reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He notched a 16-9 ledger in doubles contests, including a 12-6 record during the spring, while earning a pair of victories over ranked opponents, including the nation's No. 23 duo from 11th-ranked Columbia University and the No. 62 tandem from Oklahoma.
Prior to his collegiate career, he was ranked as high as No. 56 by the ITF. He won the Hungarian National Junior Championship in both singles and doubles for U14, U16 and U18, while reaching the final of the U18 European Team Championship.
A native of Budapest, Hungary, Kotorman joins incoming graduate transfer Felix Ewers (USC Upstate), junior Dane Esses (Pepperdine) and freshman Benji Jacobson as newcomers beginning with the 2018 fall season.
