
Volleyball to Host UCF and USF, Looks to Continue Perfect Home Record

Weekend Match Notes
NEW ORLEANS โ Following a tough start to conference play on the road last weekend, Tulane volleyball (12-5, 0-2) looks to continue its perfect record at home in facing UCF (10-3, 1-0) on Friday at 12 p.m. and USF (11-3, 0-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
"This weekend we will face a strong challenge from two teams who are playing very well," head coach Jim Barnes said. "Our young team has been practicing very hard this week and is ready for the challenge. We have played very well at home and we look forward to staying undefeated in Devlin."
The Green Wave post a 12-5 overall record and an 0-2 record in the American Athletic Conference, falling to Wichita State in five sets and Tulsa in three to kick off AAC action.
The Olive and Blue remain on top of the conference stats heading into play on their home court, leading in blocks with an average of 2.46 per set and opponent hitting percentage with .148. Tulane also ranks second in the American in assists with 12.84 per set, kills with 13.61 per set and service aces with 1.58 per set.
Junior libero Kaylie McHugh tops the team in digs with 276 and service aces with 28, checking in at sixth and second in the conference, respectively. Sophomore outside hitter Lexie Douglas adds 156 kills this season, while freshman setter Taylor Henigsman tallies 344 assists to stand at tenth in the AAC.
Sophomore middle hitter Markenzie Benoit leads the conference in blocks per set while ranking 24th in the nation, averaging 1.31 with a total of 68 this season, with senior middle hitter Dayna Kern following right behind at number three, adding 1.22 blocks per set and 56 total.
UCF Knights
After defeating USF in the team's conference opener, UCF records a fourth place conference standing and makes its way to New Orleans with a 7-0 winning streak. The Knights lead the American in kills, tallying 671 total and an average ofย 14.28 per set and in assists, with 13.55 per set and 637 total.
Freshman outside hitter McKenna Melville leads the Knights with 211 kills this season, averaging 4.49 per set, and in service aces with 11. Melville leads the AAC in double-doubles, recording eight so far this season. Senior libero Jordan Pingel tops UCF's defensive stats with 204 digs, averaging 4.34 per set in 13 matches.
USF Bulls
USF checks in at eighth in the American after week one of conference competition, falling to UCF in three sets to post a conference record of 0-1 while going 11-3 overall this season. The Bulls make the trip to New Orleans with a 3-0 record on the road in 2018.
Junior outside hitter Jac'cara Walker leads UCF on the offensive statistics, with 167 kills in 14 matches. Senior setter Briana Stowell adds 515 assists, freshman libero CC Clausen posts 285 digs and sophomore middle blocker Jaeden Brown tallies 65 blocks.ย
Series History
The Green Wave went 0-2 against UCF last season, falling to the Knights in four sets at home and three sets on the road. Tulane is 10-16 against the Knights in the team's career matchups, owning a 3-7 record at home.ย
Tulane fell to USF in three sets at home and in four sets on the road in the 2017 season, recording a 6-29 series record against the Bulls.
