Ewan Moore Tabbed American Athletic Conference Player of the Week
Jan 29, 2019 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS - Tulane junior men's tennis player Ewan Moore has been named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week in an announcement made by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Moore has now received the top weekly honor handed down by The American twice in his career, with the first coming on Feb. 27 of last season.
The Ayrshire, Scotland native posted a 2-0 mark at the No. 1 spot in the singles lineup, clinching both matches to secure consecutive top-20 upsets for the Green Wave at ITA Kickoff Weekend in Tallahassee, Florida last week. With the two wins, Tulane (4-0) earned its first bid to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in program history.
A 2018 All-American Athletic Conference choice in singles and doubles, Moore polished off a three-set win in a third-set tiebreaker over 45th-ranked Timo Stodder to seal the win over No. 18 Tennessee on Jan. 26, before topping host and No. 19 Florida State's Aziz Douglas in another three-set battle the following day.
Tulane hosts LSU on Friday, Feb. 1 in a head-to-head doubleheader alongside the Green Wave's women's tennis team. First serve is scheduled 2 p.m., at the City Park Tennis Center.
