NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane cross country team is back in action this weekend, competing in it's first out-of-state competition of the season on Saturday in the Arturo Barrios Invitational at Texas A&M.
This week's meet features the largest pool of teams the Green Wave have competed against this fall, totaling 32. Eighteen men's teams and 17 women's teams are ranked regionally while two teams are receiving votes in the country's top 30 and Middle Tennessee's men's team is checking in at No. 17 nationally.
The men's 8K is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the Dale Watts ('71) Cross Country Course while the women's 6K will start shortly after at 9:45 a.m.
Tulane's men's team finished fifth in last season's Texas A&M Invitational, with Emmanuel Rotich crossing the finish line in first place. McKenzie Melius led the way for the Green Wave women in 2018, finishing in 20th of 117 opponents.
Saturday's meet marks the last of the regular season for the Olive and Blue, with the team heading to Memphis, Tennessee on Friday, Nov. 1 to compete in the American Athletic Conference Championship.
