Men's Tennis Closes Out First Day at Samford Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior Dane Esses rattled off a three-set singles win and collected a doubles victory, highlighting the Tulane men's tennis team's first day of action at the Samford Invitational.
The day began with doubles matches as Akos Kotorman and Benji Jacobson closed out a 6-4 victory over Troy's Christopher tasker and Jorge Poyatos, while Esses and Henry Lovett cruised to a 6-3 win over Daniel Stormon and Brad Buckland.
Esses proved to be the bright spot once again in singles, battling back from a lost first set to win the next two, 7-5 and 6-0, against Alabama's Riccardo Roberto.
The Green Wave continues play Saturday with two rounds of doubles and singles matches.
