
Tulane’s Comeback Bid Falls Short at Temple, 29-21

Tulane (6-4, 3-3) out-rushed Temple (7-3, 4-2) 203-105, but the Owls held a 297-130 edge in passing yards. Senior quarterback Justin McMillan led the way for the Green Wave with 64 rushing yards, while senior running back Darius Bradwell added 63 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Senior safety P.J. Hall was the leader on defense with nine tackles including one tackle-for-loss.
The Green Wave drove for 75 yards and a score to begin the fourth quarter, with senior Darius Bradwell capping off the drive with a four-yard touchdown run, to cut the Owls' lead to 22-14 with 13:57 left in the game. Temple scored a touchdown on its next drive and stretched the lead to 29-14 with 9:56 remaining.
Freshman running back Cameron Carroll scored for the second time on the day with a one-yard rush to cap off a 12-play, 52-yard drive by Tulane. The score cut Temple's lead to 29-21 with 6:48 remaining. Tulane forced the Owls' into three-and-outs on the next two drives but could not score to tie the game.
Senior linebacker Lawrence Graham added seven tackles and a tackle-for-loss, while senior Darnell Mooney led the Green Wave's receivers with three catches for 38 yards.
After a Tulane fumble in the first quarter, the Owls took a 3-0 lead with a 35-yard field goal. The Green Wave defense held strong the rest of the quarter holding Temple to 56 yards of offense in the first.
The Owls opened the second quarter with a 10-yard touchdown to give Temple a 10-0 lead with 11:23 remaining in the first half. Temple took a 13-0 lead on their next possession.
Jaylon Monroe intercepted a Temple pass with five minutes left in the second quarter. The Green Wave drove 55 yards in eight plays for a five-yard touchdown from Carroll to cut the Temple lead to 13-7 going into the half.
Temple kicked its third field goal of the game on the Owls' first possession of the second half to take a 16-7 lead. After a Tulane turnover, the Owls took a 22-7 lead with two minutes remaining in the third quarter.
