Jacobson Wins Singles Draw at CCB Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Redshirt freshman Benji Jacobson won his third straight match of the weekend to capture the Houndstooth singles draw on the final day of the 2019 CCB Invitational.
Similar to Saturday's semifinal, Jacobson was forced to rally back from a lost first set after dropping Sunday's first frame, 6-1, to UAB's Nikola Puric. Jacobson was up to the task, rattling off consecutive sets, 6-3, 6-3, to hoist the crown for his first collegiate singles title.
In the third place match of the Crimson doubles draw, senior Tim Ruetzel and junior Akos Kotorman finished the weekend on a high note and a 2-1 record, securing a convincing 8-4 win over a duo from UL Lafayette.
Tulane senior Ewan Moore begins play in the main draw of the 2019 ITA National Fall Championships on Wednesday, November 6 in Newton Beach, Calif.
