Gish Scores Notches Upset Win at Kitty Harrison Invitational
Nov 3, 2019 | Women's Tennis
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Redshirt sophomore Lauren Gish earned her first singles win over a nationally-ranked opponent on the final day of the Kitty Harrison Invitational at the University of North Carolina.
Playing in her home state, Gish matched up with 116th-ranked Cameron Corse of the University of Notre Dame and got a positive start with a 6-4 edge to take the first set. Corse responsed to win the second set by the same count, but Gish should resolve with the score tied 5-5 in the third and deciding set to win the final two games and finish off the victory.
The ranked win is Tulane's second in the last two weeks, after freshman Lahari Yelamanchili topped the nation's No. 11 player in the first round of the ITA Southern Region main draw on Oct. 17.
The Green Wave closes out their fall season next weekend, Nov. 8-10, in Tallahassee at the Florida State Invitational.
