
Douglas, Dinkins Selected to All-Louisiana Volleyball Teams

NEW ORLEANS, La. – With the close of the collegiate volleyball season for state schools, two members of the Tulane volleyball team were honored by Louisiana Sports Writers Association on Monday as junior Lexie Douglas was named to the All-Louisiana First Team while sophomore Kayla Dinkins was named to the All-Louisiana Second Team the organization announced Monday.

Douglas is the fourth first-team selection in the last two seasons, making the list for the first time after being an honorable mention selection last year. It is the first time Dinkins has been named to the All-LSWA team in her career.

Tulane was one of four teams in the state to place multiple players on the two lists, placing two along with LSU and New Orleans, as Northwestern State led all schools with three selections.

Douglas finished a banner year leading Tulane in kills, kills per set, points, points per set and double-doubles in her junior campaign. The Plano, Texas, native capped a year where she was named to the preseason all-conference team by being a All-American Athletic Conference First Team selection, while also being picked to the inaugural American Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dinkins burst on to the scene in a big way in her second collegiate season by finishing in the top 20 nationally in blocks and blocks per set. Dinkins helped pace a Tulane team that is eighth in the nation in total blocks on the season with 342.5, as by alone she netted a double-double with kills and blocks this year, while having two matches with double-digit blocks.
