Women's Tennis Stumbles at Samford, 4-2

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Tulane women's tennis team secured the doubles point, but could not hold on in a 4-2 road defeat at Samford on Saturday afternoon.

The Green Wave (4-7) got off to a great start when Christina Sisti and Alex Alegre rolled to a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles, before Elena Muller and Ivone Alvaro closed out No. 1 by a 6-3 count to give the Wave an early 1-0 edge.

Samford (6-4) took control from that point however, notching a trio of straight-set singles wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 to grab a 3-1 lead in the overall match. Sisti cut the deficit in half with Tulane's second point when she outlasted Arianna Beltrame, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, on court five.

The Bulldogs would close out from there however, finishing off a three-set win on court six to clinch the match.

The Green Wave turns right around to play at UAB on Sunday, February 24. First serve is set for noon.
