No. 17 Beach Volleyball Falls to No. 19 Grand Canyon and TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 17 Tulane beach volleyball team (2-5, 0-3 CCSA) went 0-2 on day one of the Horned Frog Challenge, dropping matches against No. 19 Grand Canyon and TCU on Friday.
"Today was disappointing," head coach Wayne Holly said. "Our team didn't perform nearly to our capability and nobody is more disappointed than our players. I need to better prepare our team to compete. I need to train and coach our players so they are better positioned to perform on gameday."
Tulane's No. 1 pair in juniors Kaylie McHugh and Eva Torruella went 2-0 on the day, defeating Grand Canyon's Hannah Town and Katie Hess in straight sets to start off the tournament, recording 21-15 and 22-20 wins in the match.
The duo then pulled off a tight three-set win over conference opponent TCU, taking down Victoria McDonald and Jaelyn Greene with 21-19, 21-23 and 15-11 scores.
Sophomores Lauren Orlich and Rio Frohoff were also successful on the sand in the first match of the day, beating Grand Canyon's Anaya Evans and Mikaela Raudsepp with 25-23 and 21-16 scores on court two.
The Green Wave look to bounce back on Saturday, facing No. 16 Georgia State at 8 a.m. before matching up against Missouri State at 12 p.m.
