Men’s Tennis Cruises Past Pepperdine, 6-1

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men's tennis team used dominant doubles and singles efforts to earn a convincing 6-1 home win over Pepperdine on Sunday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.
Tulane (6-10) picked up where it left off in Friday's dominant 6-0 win over Old Dominion by securing early leads on courts two and three, respectively, in doubles. Dane Esses and Luis Erlenbusch were first to finish, securing a 6-2 win at No. 3, before Hamish Stewart and Akos Kotorman won by the same count from the No. 2 spot in the lineup to clinch the doubles point.
The Green Wave improved to 4-0 this season when winning the doubles point.
Tulane took control of the overall match with two quick singles wins, as Tyler Schick cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Matias Sborowitz on court four, before the 72nd-ranked Erlenbusch dismantled Corrado Summaria, 6-1, 6-3, on court three.
Pepperdine (3-6) broke the shutout with a straight-set win on court two, but Ewan Moore took down Adrian Oeztbach, 6-4, 6-1, on court one to clinch the match and make the score 6-1.
A two-year letterwinner for the Waves Dane Esses was next to finish when he topped Tom Zeitvogel, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 5 singles, before Tim Ruetzel closed out court six by the same score against Pawel Jankowiak.
Next up, Tulane heads west for the San Diego Invitational as the Green Wave plays three matches in three days, beginning Friday, March 22.
