ST. MARY'S, Maryland – The Tulane sailing team sailed in its four remaining races on Sunday in the St. Mary's Women's Regatta, notching four top-ten finishes to close out the competition.
"We didn't get much racing in today with a prolonged wind delay. Our A Division boat with Ciara [Rodriguez-Horan] and Grace [Bloomfield] had a considerably better day and finished the regatta very strong. In the B Division, Grace [Siwicki] and Kat [Robinson] had their two best races of the regatta as well," head coach Charles Higgins said.Â
The Green Wave maintained their 17th-place standing on day two of the regatta, totaling 90 points in eight combined races.
Freshman Ciara Rodriguez-Horan took over the skipper role in the A Division boat, sailing alongside senior Grace Bloomfield in the crew position. The duo recorded tenth and sixth-place finishes in its last few races, earning a weekend-high third place finish in their final race of the day to total just 36 points on Sunday.Â
Freshman Grace Siwicki and senior Kat Robinson saw improvement from Saturday as well, notching a seventh and 11th place finish to close out the weekend on the water. The pair totaled 54 points in the remaining races.
"We still have a ways to go with consistency but we'll certainly take the positive lessons from the day even if we didn't move on the leaderboard," Higgins added. "As I said, we wanted to take yesterday's lessons and apply them today and show improvement. And we certainly did that."
The Green Wave are back in action next weekend, heading to the Admiral Moore Regatta at SUNY Maritime College on Saturday and Sunday.
