THROGGS NECK, New York – The Tulane sailing team finished competition in the Admiral Moore Team Race on Sunday, sailing in only one day of action in the weekend regatta after weather and wind conditions prevented sailing on Saturday.
"Unfortunately we didn't end up with the results we would have liked, but this was still a valuable experience, particularly for the underclassmen," head coach Charles Higgins said. "We need to continue competing against the best if we hope to improve in the future, and we certainly learned a lot in our races today."
The Green Wave earned two second-place finishes and one third-place finish in the regatta, with sophomores Caelan Watts and Kate Lenhard teaming up in boat one, seniors Harris Cram and Sophie Ricker partnering in boat two and freshman Luke Schumann and junior Josie Larkin sailing in boat three.
Though Tulane was unable to earn the win in any of this weekend's competitive team races, the Green Wave have shown constant improvement in their first varsity season and are looking to continue developing the program throughout the rest of 2019.
Tulane heads to the West Coast next weekend, traveling to San Francisco, California to compete in the St. Francis Invite on Saturday and Sunday.
