ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – The Tulane sailing team earned a final 15th place finish in the Navy Spring Regatta on Sunday, totaling 334 points after 28 total races among two divisions.
"We had a very similar day today, but just not quite as solid as yesterday. Caelan [Watts] and Harris [Cram] continued to split time in B Division, as it's important that each of them gets more experience against good competition before the championship part of our season begins," head coach Charles Higgins said. "We continue to show progress in areas we identified as our weakest early in the season, and I think we've done a good job preparing as best as we can going into the next two weeks. If we perform as I know we can, then I hope for us to advance to the Spring National Championships in our very first season."
Freshman Ciara Rodriguez-Horan and senior Grace Bloomfield continued to team up in the A Division races, with junior Stephen Hahn also sailing in one race on the final day of competition. The three totaled 173 points after 14 races, earning a top fifth-place finish on Sunday.
Sophomore Caelan Watts and senior Harris Cram partnered in the B Division races, sailing alongside sophomore Kate Lenhard. They earned two top-ten finishes on the second day of action, checking in at ninth and tenth place to record 185 total points in the interconference regatta.
Navy earned the victory in its host regatta, totaling 124 total points.
Tulane heads back home next weekend, hosting the SEISA Conference Championships on Lake Pontchartrain on Saturday and Sunday in the Green Wave's first varsity season.
