Bobcat Invitational Results | Texas Relays Results | Stanford Invitational Results
NEW ORLEANS – Spread out over three different meets on Friday, the Green Wave track & field teams got one win and five top-10 finishes to highlight their participation in the Stanford Invitational, the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitationals.
Out in California at the Stanford Invitational, Mckenzie Melius came just two seconds shy of her school record in the 3K steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 10:35.28. She finished 12th in her section.
About an hour later, Emmanuel Rotich ran a speedy 8:43.96 in the steeplechase, taking ninth place in the fastest section of the night. Rotich's time was his fastest this season and would have been the 10th-fastest 3K steeplechase run during the 2018 outdoor season.
Back in Austin at the Texas Relays, Rebekah Markel got the day started with a clearance of 4.21 (13-9.75) meters in the pole vault. The senior set a new outdoor personal best with that mark and improved her second-best height in school history, beating out her height of 4.20 meters from last weekend. Markel got over 3.91 and 4.06 meters on her first try and then needed two attempts to clear 4.21 meters. Her mark earned her fifth place at the meet.
In the 100 hurdles, Kyah Loyd took third place in her heat and 34th overall when she ran the race in 14.11 seconds. In the 100, Aldrianna Dupree was third in her heat and 37th overall with a time of 11.83 seconds. That mark is the new 10th-best in program history.
At the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, Maya Harewood picked up a victory in the 400, just missing out on a personal best but still finishing first in a time of 54.33 seconds. Tahja Mitchell was not far behind, placing fourth in 55.22 seconds for a new personal record by nearly half a second.
Kyra Ness-Lanckriet was 19th in 57.78 seconds – setting a new PR by 0.65 seconds – and Oneke Gwan was 27th in 58.60
Emma King took eighth in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.55 meters on her second attempt.
In the 400 hurdles, Louise Jones ran to an 11th-place finish with a time of 1:04.10.
Jennifer LaMori took 11th place in the 1500, running the race in 4:41.93. Reid Belanger was 28th in 4:59.69, knocking more than seven full seconds off her personal best.
On the men's side of that race, Evans Kipchumba was 30th in 4:10.41. One night earlier at the Texas Relays, Kipchumba finished the 5K in 14:59.02, just missing out on a top-10 time in Tulane history by about a second.
