Men's Tennis Sweeps Doubleheader Against Nicholls, New Orleans

The Green Wave (12-11) got the afternoon started against Nicholls (4-11), as they cruised to the doubles point behind a 6-2 win by Tim Ruetzel and Tyler Schick at No. 1 doubles, followed by a 6-1 victory at No. 3 by Felix Ewers and Dane Esses to clinch the first team point.
Tulane remained dominant in singles, as all six Wave players recorded wins in straight sets to complete the 7-0 shutout.
The Green Wave remained strong in their second match of the day, despite some early pressure by New Orleans in doubles play. The Wave settled in and broke away however, as Akos Kotorman and Hamish Stewart earned a 6-2 win on court two. Schick and Felix Ewers were close behind and eventually closed things out on court one, 6-4, to give Tulane and early 1-0 edge.
The Wave got a quick singles point as Ruetzel won by default on court six, before Esses rattled off a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win from the No. 4 spot to push the Privateers (6-12) to the brink, 3-0. UNO would get on the board however with a straight-set victory on court one, but Tulane put the match away with two impressive wins on courts two and three, respectively, before earning another straight-set win on court five to create the final score, 6-1, in favor of the Green Wave.
Tulane travels to Memphis for a match against the Tigers on Sunday, April 7. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
