Apr 9, 2019 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – For the second week in a row, Tulane men's tennis sophomore Hamish Stewart has been named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Stewart becomes the first Green Wave men's tennis player to receive the honor in consecutive weeks since Constantin Schmitz accomplished the feat three straight times in 2018.
Last week, Tulane (13-11) posted a 3-0 record to extend its winning streak to five matches, including a home doubleheader sweep against Nicholls State and the University of New Orleans on Tuesday, followed by a 4-3 comeback win on the road at conference foe Memphis on Sunday afternoon.
Stewart collected two singles wins in straight sets with one at No. 1 singles against Nicholls, before securing a crucial victory at the No. 2 spot against Memphis. In doubles, he teamed with Akos Kotorman to compile a 2-0 mark at the No. 2 spot, including victories over UNO and Memphis.
The Glasgow, Scotland native owns a 20-16 overall singles record and a 13-8 mark in dual matches this spring. In doubles, Stewart and Kotorman are 8-1 this spring at the No. 2 position.
Tulane closes out the regular season in Houston with a match at Rice on Saturday, April 13.
