Women’s Tennis Signs Transfer Lauren Gish
May 20, 2019 | Women's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane women's tennis head coach Maria Brito announced the signing of transfer Lauren Gish to the team's 2019-20 roster Monday afternoon.
Â
Gish arrives in New Orleans after spending the last two years at Vanderbilt University as a member of a team that reached the 2018 NCAA Championship match and the quarterfinals of this year's tournament.
Â
"Lauren is coming from one of the best programs in the country," Brito said. "She is very driven, motivated and has a high standard of excellence. She is going to have a huge impact on our team and be a great leader. We are very excited to welcome her and can't wait for her to get to campus."
Â
As a freshman in 2017-18, Gish earned nine singles wins and competed in the round of 64 at the 2017 ITA Division I Ohio Valley Regional Championship. In doubles, Gish was part of a doubles tandem for the Commodores that reached the round of 32 at the same regional tournament.
Â
A Mooresville, North Carolina native, Gish was listed as the No. 4 overall prospect in the state and 95th nationally by tennisrecruiting.net while competing at Lake Norman High School. She was a 2016 finalist in the N.C. State qualifier and a doubles finalist at the 2016 Regional Closed National L4 (G18s).
Â
In 2015, Gish was a 4A NCHSAA State Finalist and named North Piedmont Conference Player of the Year at Lake Norman.
Gish marks the third newcomer set to join the Green Wave next fall, joining incoming freshmen Lahari Yelamanchili and Mackenzie Clark who signed their National Letters of Intent in November.
