NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Tulane volleyball team looks to close the non-conference portion of the schedule on a strong note this Saturday as the team travels to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers at 2 p.m. in the Maravich Center.

The Green Wave will close a tough stretch of six matches in 12 days with the Tigers on Saturday, as Tulane sits at 9-3 on the year before beginning American Athletic Conference play at home next weekend. The team has only dropped one match in that stretch, looking to get to double figure wins for the third consecutive season before league play begins.

Tulane will take its potent hitting attack into Baton Rouge with the squad hitting .213 on the season, averaging 13.36 kills per set. Tulane currently has five players averaging over two kills per set this year, with seven players having 60 or more kills.
Leading the team currently is junior Lexie Douglas, whose 125 kills and 2.78 kills per set average leads the team, while also averaging 2.62 digs per set and adding a team-high 17 service aces.
At the net, sophomore Kayla Dinkins added a match career best 10 blocks to her season total to sit at 60 heading into the weekend. The Pennsylvania native is averaging 1.43 blocks per set, while also having 2.36 kills per set and is hitting .294 on the season.
Setters Amanda Giardina and Jenna Ibieta both notched 21 assists against the Golden Eagles on Wednesday night, as on the season the Slidell native has the edge in total assists with 225, while the Metairie native is averaging 5.31 per set.
Kaylie McHugh has 209 assists on the year and earned her fourth match with at least 20 digs against Southern Miss. McHugh is averaging 4.75 digs per set, while having 59 assists and 15 service aces this year.
