
Track and Field Starts Weekend Strong in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas — The Tulane indoor track and field team earned four career-best times and recorded seven top 10 finishes while competing against more than 25 teams on Friday in the Houston P5 and Mid-Major Invitational at the Yeoman Fieldhouse.
Racing around the track to record a second-place finish in the 800-meter was junior Pauline Helm with a career-best time of 2:18.77. Sophomore Louise Jones crossed the finish line next for the Olive and Blue, in 10th at 2:20.81 and was followed by senior Paige Fatland, in 15th at 2:23.66.
Junior Kyah Loyd finished in sixth overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a new personal best time of 8.49 seconds in the finals. Loyd finished eighth in the preliminaries and was followed by senior Brandi Hughes with a time of 8.67 seconds, who stood in ninth place.
Sophomore Bridgid Selfors was impressive in the mile, placing fifth among 38 runners with a new personal best time of 5:16.33. Senior Mary Catherine Stovall also finished with a career-best time of 5:22.26, only a few seconds behind Selfors to stand in 11th overall.
Running in the 60-meter dash was sophomore Aldrianna Dupree and senior Brandi Hughes. Dupree finished in 11th with a time of 7.68 seconds while Hughes checked in at 19th with a time of 7.79 seconds. Loyd also ran in the sprint, recording a time of 7.94 in the qualifying rounds to stand in 31st among 66 competitors.
Sophomore Hunter Robinson led the way for the Green Wave in the 400-meter dash, recording a personal best time of 56.59 seconds to stand in ninth of 61 runners. Senior Maya Harewood finished next for Tulane, with a time of 56.98 and an 11th-place mark. Sophomore Oneke Gwan earned a time of 59.07 seconds to stand in 36th overall.
Junior Danielle Wember recorded a distance of 5.37 meters (17-7.50) in the long jump to stand in 17th overall.
The Green Wave head back out on the track Saturday for day two of the meet, with the high jump kicking off the day at 12:30 p.m. Fans are able to stay updated with the team by tracking the live stats here.
