Women's Tennis Drops Road Tilt at LSU
Jan 31, 2020 | Women's Tennis
BATON ROUGE, La. - The Tulane women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the 2020 spring season in a 6-1 defeat at LSU on Saturday evening at the LSU Tennis Complex.
The Green Wave (4-1) started the day short-handed, surrendering the No. 3 doubles match and No. 6 singles matches to forfeit. LSU pounced on the opportunity, cruising to a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles to claim the doubles point.
LSU would go on to win five of six singles matches, but the Green Wave escaped with a major upset victory thanks to freshman Mackenzie Clark, who claimed a 6-2 first-set edge against 42nd-ranked Taylor Bridges. Despite dropping the second frame, 6-4, Clark showed resilience in the the third-set tiebreaker to claim an 11-9 victory and score her first win over a ranked singles opponent.
Tulane returns home Sunday, February 2 to host UAB. First serve is set for noon at the City Park Tennis Center.
