
Swimming Closes Competition Saturday at Rice

HOUSTON, Texas — The Tulane swimming team (1-1) recorded three first-place finishes on Saturday to wrap up competition at Rice, ultimately falling to the Owls 245-146.
"We had a great last session," head coach Leah Stancil said. "Christiana Williams was able to post a best time in the 200 breast, which is very impressive based on where we are in training. The team continues to take the feedback I give and make improvements. I am looking forward to the rest of the season."
Sophomore Lilly Byrne led the way for the Green Wave in the 1650-yard freestyle, finishing first with a time of 16:56.02. Byrne was followed by junior Noa Heron, who crossed the finish line second in 17:03.04.
The Olive and Blue dominated in the 200-yard backstroke, as freshman Danielle Titus took the top spot (2:01.81), followed by sophomore Mya Drost-Parra in second (2:02.80), freshman Gianna Spremullo in third (2:03.45) and freshman Riley Hendrix in fourth (2:06.16).Â
Senior Kate McDonald and freshman Christiana Williams also notched first- and second-place finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke, recording respective times of 2:16.60 and 2:16.87.
The Green Wave will be back in action next on Monday, Dec. 14 as they take on LSU on the road beginning at 11 a.m.
