
Tulane Women's Basketball Opens Conference Play at UCF

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's basketball team will hit the road to take on UCF on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. at the Addition Financial Arena on UCF's campus in Orlando.
STARTING FIVE
1. Senior Krystal Freeman earned Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honors last season. She was named preseason first team in the conference as an unanimous selection headed into the 2020-21 season. She currently ranks second on the team, averaging 14.3 points per game.
2. Senior Arsula Clark earned Preseason Second Team All-AAC after averaging 12.7 points, 4.9 rebound and 2.7 assists last season.
3. Freshman Jerkaila Jordan is the lone freshman in the NCAA who is averaging at least 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 block per game. She is currently averaging 19.3 points, 6.8 boards, 3.5 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.
4. Jordan has made a splash early in her collegiate career. She has been honored by the AAC in each of the last three weeks, including this week, as she was named Player of the Week. She has led the Green Wave in scoring three of the four games this season.
5. Jordan currently ranks in the top 10 in the American Athletic Conference in scoring (19.3), rebounding (6.8), field goal percentage (.435), free throw percentage (.739) and blocked shots (1.3). She is fourth among freshman in the NCAA in scoring.
SERIES HISTORY – UCF
• The Green Wave and the Knights have met 24 times in program history with Tulane holding a 14-10 edge.
• The Green Wave took the last meeting between the two teams last season, 60-59.
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 13-8 record against UCF in her career at Tulane.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
• The Knights are 2-1 heading into their conference opener on Tuesday.
• UCF was picked to finish second in the American Athletic Conference prior to the 2020-21 season.
• The Knights are holding opponents to 41.0 points per game on 28.4 percent shooting on the season. Both number rank in the top five of the NCAA this season.
• UCF has averaged 16.5 assists per game this season, which ranks second in the AAC.
• Senior Courtajia Sanders leads the Knights with 15.5 points per game this season.
• Junior Diamond Battles adds 13.0 points and a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game. She also leads the team with 11 assists on the season.
• Junior Brittney Smith has added 10.0 points per game for UCF this season. She was tabbed as a preseason First Team All-AAC honoree prior to the season.
• Last season, the Green Wave beat the Knights, 60-59. Tulane held off a last second shot from UCF to hold onto the win in New Orleans. Smith led the Knights with 20 points and nine rebounds.
• Head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson holds an all-time record of 91-40 during her five seasons at UCF. Abrahamson-Henderson previously made stops at Missouri State and Albany. She holds a 332-148 career record.
AGAINST THE AMERICAN
• Tulane is 47-53 during the regular season against teams in the American Conference.
• The Green Wave have collected an 21-29 record against teams from American teams on the road.
• The Olive and Blue went 8-8 in the American and 3-5 on the road in conference last season.
UP NEXT
The Green Wave returns home on Dec. 19 and will welcome Wichita State to Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
