
Track and Field Wraps Up Day One at Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Tulane indoor track and field team wrapped up day one of the Texas Tech Shootout on Friday with three new career-best times and one top three finish.
Finishing in second overall in the high jump was sophomore Olivia Hicks, jumping 1.65 meters (5-5), a distance she's reached four times this season.
Sophomore Hunter Robinson led the way for the Olive and Blue in the 200-meter dash, recording the fastest time of her career at 24.45 seconds to finish in 13th of 104 runners. Junior Kyah Loyd was next up for Tulane, earning a time of 24.84 seconds for a 28th-place finish.
Rounding out the Green Waves in the spring was senior Maya Harewood (31st) with a time of 24.93 seconds, sophomore Oneke Gwan (35th) with a career-best time of 25.09 seconds, and Louise Jones (59th) with a time of 25.89 seconds in her first time running the event indoors.
Junior Pauline Helm notched a time of 2:18.02 in the 800 meter, crossing the finish line in 19th of 50 total runners.
Sophomore Trina Malej recorded a new personal-best distance of 5.66 meters (18-7) in the long jump on Friday, finishing in 18th of 30. Junior Danielle Wember also competed in the high jump for the Green Wave, finishing in 30th with a 5.08 meter (16-8) mark.
The Green Wave are set to head back out on the track on Saturday, beginning day two of the meet with the shot put at 11 a.m.
