Women's Tennis Drops Home Match Against No. 25 UCF

NEW ORLEANS - Facing their first ranked opponent of the season, the Tulane women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 home defeat to No. 25 UCF on Saturday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center.
The Green Wave (6-6) were short-handed, as the Knights (8-3) grabbed an early advantage with a walkover win at No.3 doubles, before sweeping the contest with a pair of 6-2 wins on courts one and two, respectively, to take a 1-0 lead into singles.
UCF remained in control, winning by walkover on court six, before collecting three consecutive straight-set wins on courts five, one and four to push its advantage to 5-0. Freshman Lahari Yelamanchili won the second set, 6-4, at No. 3 singles to force a third-set tiebreaker. Unfortunately, the Knights held on for an 11-9 win for their sixth team point of the day. UCF finished the day with one more straight-set win on court two to complete the shutout.
Tulane turns around to face No. 29 Old Dominion on Sunday at noon in City Park.
