
Track and Field Off to Impressive Start in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Nebraska — The Tulane indoor track and field team totaled four top five finishes on day one of the Frank Sevigne Invitational, also adding three new personal records at the Devaney Center on Friday.
Placing in the 5000 meter to highlight the day was sophomore Bridgid Selfors with a time of 17:42.45, earning a third-place overall finish among 17 total runners.
Sophomores Nastja Modic and Kristina Leggas were impressive in the pole vault, as Modic finished tied for third with a season-high distance of 3.98 meters (13-0.75) and Leggas checked in in fifth overall at 3.83 meters (12-6.75).
Sophomore Hunter Robinson was quick to finish in the 400-meter dash, notching a time of 55.46 seconds to finish in fourth out of 47 with a new career-best mark.
Rounding the track with a time of 7.59 seconds in the 60-meter dash was sophomore Aldrianna Dupree, who advanced to the finals after taking the seventh-place spot in the prelims.
Senior Brandi Hughes shined in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries on Friday, opening the meet with a third place finish and season-best 8.48 second time to stand in third of 29 sprinters. Junior Kyah Loyd's time of 8.44 seconds is a new personal best, earning the sprinter a fifth-place finish and a spot in the finals.
Recording a distance of 5.46 meters (17-11.00) in the long jump was sophomore Trina Malej, who finished in 13th of 25 on day one of competition.
Rounding out the runners for the Olive and Blue in the 400-meter was senior Maya Harewood, sophomore Oneke Gwan and sophomore Louise Jones, with respective times of 56.12 (11th), 57.03 (16th) and 57.53 (18th). Gwan's time is a new career-high.
Senior Jessica Duckett also ran in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 15th with a time of 8.85 seconds. Hughes and Loyd raced in the 60-meter dash, earning respective times of 7.81 and 7.90 seconds.
The Green Wave are back in action on Saturday, kicking off day two of the meet with the high jump and 200-meter dash, each beginning at 11:30 a.m.
