SENIOR DAY: Tulane Honors Track & Field's Tom Coe
Apr 23, 2020 | Track & Field
EDITOR'S NOTE: Over the next few months, TulaneGreenWave.com will honor the 35 seniors that had their respective collegiate careers cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic through this SENIOR DAY series. We hope you the fans enjoy this series and remember the seniors from the 2020 graduating class.
Joining the Tulane Green Wave in the fall of 2018 from his hometown of Woking, England, graduate student Tom Coe has come to epitomize what it means to be a student-athlete. Earning his Master’s of Business Administration with a Strategic Management concentration this May while competing on the cross country and track and field teams, Coe has truly made the most out of his two years in New Orleans. After running track at the University of Birmingham — and serving as team captain in 2017-18 — Coe made his way to the U.S. to compete for Tulane. During his two years Uptown, Coe most notably posted a top 10 finish at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship in the 1500 meter (3:56.81), totaling seven top ten finishes in cross country and track and field meets in his career while also being named to the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association Men's Cross Country Team in 2019.
Today, we honor Coe in our SENIOR DAY web series.
Q AND A WITH TOM COE
What made you want to come to Tulane?
"The opportunity to pursue the highest level of collegiate track and field in the world, alongside the academic rigor of such a prestigious school in the vibrant city of New Orleans. In addition to being given the opportunity to create a legacy on the team for years to come."
What is your favorite memory from your time at Tulane?
"Waking up at 5 a.m. every day for months during the cross country season to go to morning practice. The peace and serenity on my morning bike ride to campus, as well as the acknowledgement that I was heading to go and do the sport that I love and that has given me so much. That rocks."
What's next?
"The COVID-19 crisis has thrown a real spanner in the works for my plans. I was intending on entering into Management Consultancy in Strategy and Supply Chain. Alas, the job market is incredibly challenging so I may pursue further academics. Who knows!"
