SENIOR DAY: Tulane Honors Women's Tennis' Christina Sisti
Apr 27, 2020 | Women's Tennis
EDITOR'S NOTE: Over the next few months, TulaneGreenWave.com will honor the 35 seniors that had their respective collegiate careers cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic through this SENIOR DAY series. We hope you the fans enjoy this series and remember the seniors from the 2020 graduating class.
A Mount Vernon, N.Y., native, Christina Sisti joined the Green Wave women's tennis program as a freshman in the fall of 2016. Over the course of four years, she racked up 111 total wins, including 65 in singles and 46 more in doubles play. Sisti led the Green Wave in singles wins in her freshman and sophomore years, respectively, while doing the same in doubles during her debut campaign. Among her many accomplishments, Sisti clinched Tulane's 4-3 win over East Carolina on court six in the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championships to send the Wave to the quarterfinals.
Just 15 matches into the 2020 spring season, she was unable to complete her final season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today, we honor Sisti in our SENIOR DAY web series.
Q AND A WITH CHRISTINA SISTI
What made you want to come to Tulane?
"I had a pretty long recruiting process and looked at a lot of schools. Growing up in Westchester (County), Tulane was a very well-known school, academically, with a lot of alumni in the area. I felt very wanted so it drew me to the school. After meeting the girls on the team, it just felt like everyone got along and New Orleans is such a great city to be in. The most important part to me was that there was a balance between academics and tennis. Whenever you commit to a school, you don't really know if you're going to like it until you've spent a few months there and have a routine. There is always some risk, but my experience has been really good."
What is your favorite memory from your time at Tulane?
"Off the court, I loved spending time with my teammates, relaxing and enjoying the city of New Orleans and all its restaurants. Playing tennis, the conference (tournaments) have always been great experiences, especially playing at the USTA Tennis Center. That's always been a lot of fun."
What's next?
"I actually accepted a job offer in October to work at Ernst & Young in structured finance. I'm currently scheduled to start in August, and I'm very fortunate to have had all of my internship experiences during the summer while keeping up with tennis because they really afforded me the opportunity to get this job. I'm very excited and it's going to be an interesting next step and transition in my life. I'm sad to leave tennis, but I'm ready for the next stage."
When do you plan on coming back to Tulane?
"I plan on coming back for a couple weekends here and there during the fall. My best friend is still on the team, so I plan on going back to visit them. I'm definitely going to come back!"

Whenever you commit to a school, you don't really know if you're going to like it until you've spent a few months there and have a routine.
