Senior Saturday: Jordan Morling Looks Back on a Memorable Experience at Tulane
May 2, 2020 | Women's Swimming and Diving
NEW ORLEANS - Each Saturday throughout the spring, TulaneGreenWave.com will look back on its 2019-20 senior class and their experience at Tulane. Check out TulaneGreenWave.com each Saturday throughout the spring to relive each Green Wave's senior experience.
This week's featured senior is Jordan Morling from St. Charles, Ill.
What was your favorite memory from your time at Tulane?
"I spent the vast majority of my time on this team laughing and smiling, so narrowing it down to one memory is difficult. However, my freshman year training trip to Hawaii is one I will never forget. We made so many incredible memories as a team during that trip. We went to watch a surf competition, rode on a catamaran, spent time snorkeling, and went hiking together. It was definitely one for the books and something I am very grateful I had the chance to be a part of."Â
Â
What made you decide to come to Tulane?
"I decided to take a recruiting trip to Tulane because the school had the balance of academics, athletics, and service I was looking for. However, I chose to commit because of the team. I love games and the first night of my recruiting trip, we played charades with the team. My cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing so much that night. After that, I knew Tulane was where I wanted to spend my next four years."Â
Â
What can you say you benefited from during your time at Tulane?
"I benefited a lot from Tulane, but the most important things I gained were my experiences in the New Orleans community. My involvement with the homeless and Special Olympics opened my eyes to different perspectives and helped me look at the world from different viewpoints."Â
Â
What was the best part about going to school in New Orleans?
"That's easy - the food. All of my friends and family who read this are going to laugh because I am the pickiest eater. However, I have my favorite spots in NOLA with food that I absolutely love and can't get anywhere else."Â
Â
What plans do you have for next year?
"I am so excited to be attending medical school next year! It has been my dream for so long, and I can't believe it's really happening. I still haven't decided between University of Illinois and Tulane, but I will be finalizing my decision in the next few weeks."Â
Â
What is the best advice you can give for future swimmers that come to Tulane?
"My advice to future swimmers that come to Tulane is to embrace the incredible team environment TUSD has created. I have never felt so supported and encouraged than I did swimming for this team. Every person really looks out for one another and pushes each other to reach their goals. It is my wish that this continues for many years to come."
