LEXINGTON, Kentucky — The United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Monday that the Tulane volleyball team was one of 227 NCAA Division I women's programs to receive the 2019-20 Team Academic Award.
"Our players demonstrate the best in collegiate athletics," head coach Jim Barnes said. "We have established a winning culture on the court and in the classroom. Wendy LeBlanc, our academic advisor, has done a tremendous job in leading our team and providing services and guidance to help them in maximizing their academic potential at our world class institution."Â
A record-breaking 1,313 teams earned this year's award, which honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of a 3.30. The Green Wave's cumulative GPA for this past academic year was 3.49.
The Olive and Blue were also one of 27 Division I teams to have reached their Dig Pink fundraising goal last season.
