NEW ORLEANS – The 2020 preseason recognition continues to roll in for junior running back Amare Jones, as he was recognized as the nation's second-most productive returner by 247Sports.com.
Â
Jones' latest recognition from 247Sports.com adds to a growing list of offseason acknowledgement following an impressive 2019 sophomore campaign. Earlier this year, Jones was rated as Pro Football Focus' No. 4 returning running back for 2020, ESPN.com No. 5 returning running back.Â
Â
In addition, Jones was named to the preseason All-American Athletic Conference team by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele publications. He also was selected to the Paul Hornung and Doak Walker Award preseason watch lists.Â
Â
The Frisco, Texas, native posted an impressive sophomore campaign in 2019 as he closed the year with 1,611 all-purpose yards, finishing with 371 yards rushing, 367 yards receiving, 141 punt return yards and 732 kickoff return yards.
Â
Jones' 1,611 all-purpose yards were the most by any American Athletic Conference sophomore, ranked 28th nationally and fifth in the league. His all-purpose yards total also served as the seventh-highest single-season total in program history.
