Clark, Meredith Tabbed in First 2021 ITA Singles Rankings

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane women's tennis sophomore Mackenzie Clark and graduate student Mary Caroline Meredith were listed in the first installment of the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) national singles and doubles rankings released Wednesday.
Clark is listed at No. 108 in the singles rankings, while Clark and Meredith combine as the No. 54 doubles tandem in the country.
Clark burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2020, finishing the spring No. 112 in the ITA's singles poll after reaching as high as No. 101 earlier in the season. She posted a 13-7 overall singles record, including a 7-2 mark at the No. 1 spot in the lineup during the spring despite the abbreviated season ending due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her best win came over the nation's 42nd-ranked player Taylor Bridges at LSU on Jan. 31, and Clark was honored as an All-Louisiana First Team selection by the Louisiana Sports Writers' Association.
A 2020 ITA All-America selection in doubles, Meredith joined the Green Wave as a transfer during the summer following an impressive three-year career at Wake Forest University. She reached as high as No. 9 in the ITA's national doubles rankings and won a team-best 10 matches at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Five of those wins came over nationally-ranked doubles teams with four of them listed in the top 25. For her career, Meredith owns a 43-42 singles record combined with a 71-41 doubles mark.
The Green Wave begin their 2021 spring campaign next Thursday, January 21 with a home doubleheader against Alcorn State at Noon and 3:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at the City Park Tennis Center.
