Tulane Bowling Captures Southwest Intercollegiate Conference Tournament
Oct 3, 2021 | Women's Bowling
DALLAS – The Tulane University bowling team opened its 2021-22 campaign on a high note, as it captured team title during the Southwest Intercollegiate Conference Tournament.
The Green Wave posted a total pin score of 7,094 to claim the team title, edging out Stephen F. Austin by 32 pins.
"This was an exceptional team performance today considering recent events," head coach Hayley Veitch said. "This one day tournament was an opportunity for the team to get to know their new bowling equipment and to bond on the lanes. It was great to see the team excel and to have two final big games in baker to get the win. This is exactly what the team needed and I couldn't imagine a better start to our competitive season."
Madison McCall picked up right where she left off following impressive 2020-21 campaign. The Green Wave senior posted an average of 199.0 to pace the tournament field. McCall posted three games where she surpassed 200 points.
Teammate Amelia Vasquez finished just two spots back after she posted a tournament average of 197.
