Bowling Hosts Colonial Lanes Classic

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane bowling will play host to the first annual Colonial Lanes Classic this weekend, from Friday through Sunday in Harahan, Louisiana.

The Green Wave, ranked No. 16 in the preseason National Tenpin Coaches Association poll, will host 13 opponents in their season opening competition, including: Vanderbilt (No. 4), Louisiana Tech (No. 9), North Carolina A&T (No. 5), Sam Houston State (No. 6), Stephen F. Austin (No. 10),  Lincoln Memorial (No. 18), UMES (No. 20), Prairie View A&M (No. 22), Texas Southern (No. 25),  Alabama State, Florida A&M, Grambling State and Jackson State.
This will be the Green Wave's first home tournament since the 2019 All State Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational. Tulane ended the tournament, placing seventh of the 13 team field, with an 8-2 record, 12,406 total pin-fall, and 185.2 average pin-fallÂ
"We are excited to be able to compete at home after 2 years in front of spectators again," head coach Hayley Veitch said. "We are confident in our execution and have been working on team communication since the previous tournament. Being comfortable in our surroundings amongst family and friends will help us enjoy the experience even more."
The three-day tournament will feature five, five-game Baker matches on Friday starting at 9:55 a.m. followed by five traditional team matches on Saturday at 8:55 a.m. In the final bracket round on Sunday, the teams will participate in three Baker best 4-out-of-7 matches at 8:30 a.m. to determine final team standings, with an awards ceremony following shortly after the competition.
The Green Wave took runner-up honors in their first tournament of the year on Oct. 4th. Tulane finished with 6,658 pins as a team and just missed picking up back-to-back wins to open the year at the Southwest Intercollegiate Conference Tournament. They fell to Louisiana Tech who captured the team title with 6,779 pins.

 Veronica Petrinec led the way for the Tulane, as she totaled a tournament average of 213.71 to place second. Madison McCall continued her strong play this weekend, finishing just two spots behind Petrinec in fourth place. McCall posted an average of 198.14.
This marks the eighth year that Tulane has hosted a tournament as well as the first year of partnership with Colonial Lanes. The tournament is free and open to the public.
