
Green Wave Faces First Road Test at Alabama

TULANE AT ALABAMA NOTES
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team travels to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for its first road contest of the season as it faces Alabama on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Coleman Coliseum.

This will be the 15th meeting all-time between Tulane and Alabama. The Crimson Tide hold a 10-4 advantage in the series including winning the last three meetings. The last time the Green Wave beat Alabama came on March 16, 2016, in the first round of the WNIT inside the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse 53-52. Tulane's last win over the Tide in Tuscaloosa came on November 10, 2007, 64-56.

In her 28th year at the helm of the Green Wave, head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 4-4 record against Alabama.

This season, Stockton's staff welcomes back 10 letterwinners, four newcomers and four starters, including All-American Athletic Conference honoree Krystal Freeman who averaged 12.3 points and 7.8 rebounds for the Green Wave last season. Tulane brings back 67.8 percent of its scoring and 82.3 percent of its rebounding from the 2020-21 season.

Tulane is coming off a 66-58 victory over Southeastern Louisiana in its season opener in New Orleans on Tuesday. Offensively, the Green Wave had four players score in double figures while forcing the Lions into 17 turnovers on the defensive end. Redshirt junior Dynah Jones led the Green Wave with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting while Baylor transfer Moon Ursin posted 15 points and eight rebounds in her Olive and Blue debut.

The Crimson Tide are coming off a 109-32 win at home over Charleston Southern in the season opener on Tuesday. Brittany Davis and Khyla Wade-Warren are the top scorers for Alabama after the first game. Davis posted 25 points on 9-of-19 shooting while Wade-Warren added 16 on 7-of-9 from the field.

The Green Wave will return to New Orleans to face TCU on Wednesday, Nov. 17, following its contest at Alabama. Tipoff against the Horned Frogs is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
