
Volleyball Hits the Road for Two Matches

NEW ORLEANS -Â The Tulane University volleyball team will hit the road later this week for a pair of weekend matchups. Tulane will face Tulsa on Friday evening before heading to Kansas for a midday match against Wichita State on Sunday. The Green Wave head into the week's games after a victorious fifth win in a row against Temple on Sunday.

Friday's match will be the Olive and Blue's second time meeting Tulsa this season. The teams faced off in September where Tulane shut out the Hurricanes in three sets. If the Green Wave sees a victory on Friday, it will be their fifth consecutive win against Tulsa.Â

Tulane will be looking for a fourth straight win against Wichita on Sunday, after their September matchup resulted in a 3-1 Green Wave victory. This match will mark the first time that the Tulane team has travelled to Kansas to play against Wichita State since 2019

Tulane was picked fourth in the 2021 American Athletic Conference Volleyball Preseason Poll, returning nearly the entire roster from the spring 2021 season. Tulsa and Wichita saw back-to-back selections for 9th and 8th respectively. After nine weeks of play, Tulane sits with Tulsa in a two-way tie for fourth in the AAC at 7-5. Wichita State is one of three teams tied for third at 8-4.

The Green Wave picked up two preseason all-conference team selections in seniors Lexie Douglas and Kayla Dinkins. Tulane has also earned four AAC weekly honor roll selections in Michelle Urquhart, Anna Davis, Douglas, Dinkins and Mackenzie Martin. Douglas captured her third honor selection with her performance last week against Houston and Temple. The outside hitter 42 kills averaging 4.67 a set while hitting a staggering .434, she is responsible for one-third of all Tulane's points on the week.Â
