Men's Tennis Wins Third Straight in 6-1 Win Over Miami

TALLAHASSEE - The Tulane men's tennis team won its third straight match away from home with a 6-1 neutral site victory over the University of Miami on Sunday afternoon.
The Green Wave (6-2) have now defeated LSU, Florida State and Miami (Fla.) in a seven day period.
Tulane kept its firm grip on the doubles courts by capturing the first team point for the eighth straight match this season. The senior duo of Hamish Stewart and Ewan Moore improved to 7-1 on the season at the No. 1 spot in the lineup with a 6-4 win, before senior Luis Erlenbusch and freshman Fynn Kuenkler clinched on court three with a 6-4 victory of their own.
The Green Wave came out firing in singles play by winning the first set on four courts. Ranked 40th nationally, Stewart recorded his most impressive win of the 2021 campaign on court one with a 6-2, 6-4 upset victory over 34th-ranked Adria Soriano Barrera. Moore, ranked 53rd nationally, pushed the Wave's advantage to 3-0 when he closed out Benjamin Hannestad, 6-2, 6-3, on court two.
Freshman Billy Suarez provided the clinch on court four in a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Bojan Jankulovski, before classmate Rafael de Alba picked up his third consecutive win on court six, 6-1, 6-4 over Oren Vasser to push Tulane's lead to 5-0.
Tulane returns home to host Mississippi State on Sunday, February 21 at 1 p.m., before welcoming nationally-ranked Texas the following day. Both matches will be played at the City Park Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes (1-2) got on the scoreboard with a straight-set win at the No. 5 spot, but Erlenbusch closed out the afternoon on a high note by rallying back for a three-set, upset win over 64th-ranked Stefan Milicevic on court three.
