Men's Tennis Hosts No. 24 Mississippi State in Rematch

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's tennis team gets a rare opportunity at a regular-season rematch when its hosts 24th-ranked Mississippi State on Sunday, February 21 at 1 p.m., at the City Park Tennis Center.
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane (6-2) pieced together its third consecutive win away from home with a 6-1 neutral-site victory over the University of Miami (Fla.) in Tallahassee on Feb. 14. The Green Wave secured the doubles point for the eighth straight match before winning in straight sets on four courts, followed by a three-set win on court three to complete the win.
SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI STATE
The Bulldogs (8-1) play their first road match of the season Sunday and have won three straight contests. Most recently, they defeated South Alabama, 5-2, on Feb. 13 in Starkville. Mississippi State is led by two ranked singles players including No. 36 Giovanni Oradini and No. 87 Florian Broska. Broska owns an 8-0 record this spring, including a 3-0 mark at No. 1 in the lineup and a 5-0 record at No. 2. Oradini is 4-2 with all six results coming at the No. 1 spot. In doubles, Broska and Nicolas Ocana comprise the nation's No. 28 tandem, while Alberto Colas and Gregor Ramskogler are ranked No. 47.

Tulane won the doubles point, but Mississippi State rallied back with five straight singles wins to upend the Green Wave in a match played indoors in Starkville. The Wave's lone singles win came in three-set fashion on court five thanks to freshman Fynn Kuenkler.
IN THE RANKINGS
The Green Wave possess two players listed in the ITA's national singles rankings, led by senior Hamish Stewart at No. 40 and fifth-year senior Ewan Moore at No. 53.
THE DOUBLES POINT
Tulane has won the doubles point in all eight of its matches this season and own a combined 18-2 overall record. Stewart and Moore are 7-1 at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, while freshman Billy Suarez and senior Akos Kotorman are 6-0 playing at the No. 2 position.
AAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior Hamish Stewart was selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 16 for the fourth time in his career after receiving the recognition once as a junior in 2020 and twice in 2019 as a sophomore.
