Women’s Tennis Falls at SMU, 4-1

DALLAS - The Tulane women's tennis team suffered a 4-1 road setback against American Athletic Conference foe SMU on Saturday afternoon.
The Green Wave (9-5) started the afternoon with an aggressive push in doubles, securing convincing wins on courts two and three, respectively, to take an early 1-0 lead. Kristen Borland and Adelaide Lavery pushed their winning streak to five straight with a 6-1 victory at the No. 2 spot.
Despite the Mustangs (10-6) leveling the score with a 6-4 win on court one, Lahari Yelamanchili and Charlotte Russell took control on court three to finish off a 6-3 decision and clinch for the Wave with their fifth-consecutive doubles win.
SMU rallied in singles however, winning the first set on five courts. The Mustangs continued their charge and closed out four straight matches on courts one, two, three and six, respectively, to clinch the match.
Up next, the Green Wave return to New Orleans for a pair of home matches against conference foe Houston on Friday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m., before taking on Rice the following day at noon. Both contests will take place at the City Park Tennis Center.
