GULF SHORES, Alabama — The No. 20 Tulane beach volleyball team (7-6, 2-5 CCSA) wrapped up its first weekend on the road on Sunday, dropping two matches to No. 3 LSU (1-4) and No. 18 Georgia State (2-3) in day two of the March to May.
Freshman Lara Torruella and graduate transfer Avery Arellano were the only Green Wave pair to pull off a win over the Tigers in the first match of the day, defeating LSU's Jess Lansman and Sydney Moore from the number four position in straight sets (21-18, 21-14).
Finding success against Georgia State was graduate transfer Eva Torruella and sophomore Kendall Peters on court one, who took down Eden Hawes and Maddy Delmonte with 21-16 and 21-19 scores.
Senior Addison Hermstad and sophomore Samantha Mehlman also earned a win over the Panthers from the No. 3 spot, defeating Meagon McCall and Bekah Bropbeck (21-15, 21-9).
Just short of earning a win over LSU on court two was graduate transfer Allie Olsonoski and graduate student Tarin Mergener, who forced Claire Coppola and Kelli Greene-Agnew to three sets. The pair won the first set, 24-22, before dropping the second 14-21 and falling in the third, 9-15.
