
No. 20 Beach Volleyball to Host Five Teams in the NOLA Classic

NEW ORLEANS — The No. 20 Tulane beach volleyball team (7-6, 2-5 CCSA) is back in action this weekend, hosting its third tournament of the season in the NOLA Classic on Friday and Saturday at the White Sands Volleyball Courts.
The Green Wave are set to face Central Arkansas at 8:30 a.m. and Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 1:45 p.m. on Friday before matching up against Houston Baptist at 8:30 a.m., No. 17 Georgia State at 1:45 p.m. and Spring Hill College at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
All matches this weekend can be streamed live on the Tulane Green Wave Youtube channel. Tulane will honor the team's nine seniors — graduate students Avery Arellano, Laura Masciullo, Tarin Mergener, Allie Olsonoski and Eva Torruella and seniors Gabriella Becerra, Morgan Esters, Rio Frohoff and Addison Hermstad — before the start of competition on Saturday.
The Olive and Blue are 7-1 at home this season, falling only to No. 2 FSU in the Bayou Beach Duals. In their last weekend out on the road in a competitive slate in Gulf Shores, Alabama, the Green Wave fell to UAB (2-3), No. 10 TCU (2-3), No. 11. Grand Canyon (2-3), No. 3 LSU (1-4) and No. 18 Georgia State (2-3).
Central Arkansas is 9-5 so far this season, most recently going 4-1 in the ULM Beach Invitational. The Green Wave are 2-0 against the Bears, last defeating them with a 4-1 score in the Green Wave Invitational in 2018.
Owning a 5-5 record this spring is Texas A&M Corpus Christi, last falling to Texas A&M Kingsville (2-3) on March 10. Tulane owns a 1-1 record against the Islanders, defeating them in the Tiger Beach Challenge (3-2) before falling to them in the New Orleans Invitational (2-3) last season.
Houston Baptist is 2-9 so far in 2021, going 1-2 last weekend on the road. The Green Wave are undefeated against the Huskies — owning a 9-0 record — last beating them with a 3-2 score in the 2020 Tiger Beach Challenge.
Earning a 9-6 record so far this season in Georgia State, most recently going 2-2 in the March to May last weekend. The Green Wave are 2-9 all-time against the Panthers, falling to them with a 2-3 score earlier this season in Gulf Shores.
Spring Hill College is 5-2 this spring, last competing at White Sands in the Bayou Beach Duals as the team went 1-2. The Green Wave are 10-0 against SHC, sweeping the opponent in their second home tournament of this year.
