Track and Field in Second After First Day of UAB Spring Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —After the first day of the UAB Spring Invitational, the Tulane women's track team holds onto a steady second-place standing with 36 points, competing against 10 other teams. The men's team ran in the 1500m, but is incomplete so they will not factor into the team score.
To highlight the first day, Tri Malej won the triple jump with a mark of 12.58m. Malej has surged in the triple jump this spring marking the third win in a row for the outdoor season.
Maren Butler threw for 13.97m in the shot put, good for third place. In the javelin, Hannah Patrick earned second place with a throw of 43.32m, which gives her a seventh-place spot in the Tulane record book.
The meet will kick-off again Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with field events. The first event will be the hammer throw, followed by the high jump and the long jump at 11 a.m. The discus and the pole vault are next at 2 p.m.
Track events begin for the Green Wave at 12:30 p.m. with the 100m hurdles followed by the 400m at 1:15 p.m. Next is the 800m at 2:30 p.m. and then the 400m hurdles at 3:00 p.m. The 200m will be at 3:30 p.m. and then the meet will close at 4:00 p.m. with the 4x400m relay.
